A Little Change in Plans

We were supposed to leave for Cuba on the 16th for our workshop with Joe.  However, David's body had other plans for us including surgery in the wee hours of the morning of the 15th.  We obviously were going nowhere! After a 5 day recovery in the hospital and a couple of days at home we decided that I could go for the Ira Block portion of the trip while David held down the fort and took some time to recover.  I'm leaving on the 22nd for Miami and then on to Santiago Cuba the next morning.  This is a great reason to buy trip insurance! Next Up:  Hopefully I'm in Cuba

Back to Cuba

This will be our third trip to Cuba.  I didn't think I would like it as much as I have.  There's real poverty here, but the people are warm and friendly for the most part and happy to be photographed. The first week we will be in a workshop with  Joe McNally  photographing dance in Havana.  The Cubans have a history of ballet and also a more native form of dancing.  Joe is so good with models and particularly good with dancers so  we're looking forward to an exciting week. Week two will be with  Ira Block  exploring the eastern side of the island.  We'll get to meet interesting people outside of Havana.  The photography should be great. Getting between the two workshops will involve a driver for a twelve hour trip on not terrific roads and a driver that probably doesn't speak English.  Should be an interesting drive. I'm looking forward to sharing this adventure with you and hope you enjoy it too. Next: Havana
